The final composition of my mapped experience.
Project Statement
This project consisted of actively observing details from a selected journey through campus that I would then need to map using different drawing techniques. In my composition, I focused on translating my observations into a map format via line weights and stippling. I chose the Garden of Constants as my final destination. My goal was to share my journey with my audience by picking out locations along the journey that was constant: they were not going to change overnight without anyone knowing about it because my final destination dealt with numbers and math (something that is constant).

Reflection
This project taught me the importance of good linework. I found that even the slightest change in line weight can be very evident in both a good and bad way. For my map, I wanted to include the entire path from point A to point B, but this also meant that I would be working on a smaller scale for drawing my locations along this path. It was important for me to make my map accurately represent the mapped journey because I wanted my audience to visually see the entire/full path that they would take if they chose to embark on this journey. If I had to do this project over again, I would choose a different location along my path in order to make my locations just a little bit bigger, so they wouldn’t get lost in the overall composition. I also see how the use of contrast would have been a good principle to utilize in laying down the dotted path line through my map. I think using a color like red could have both helped my path stand out more, as well as my locations along the path. I was overall very happy with my physical composition for this project. I could see my craft and my understanding of the elements and principles of design starting to grow.
