Project Overview
You will create a sketchbook of ten graphic compositions of type & image (five spreads) representing your WINTER Pattern over the course of the coming weeks.
Each spread of type & image composition expresses a distinct WINTER Pattern experience with photo-graphic collage (multiple images plus a letter form and/or a title word) on the left page and type-graphic (short phrases and/or a story paragraph) on the right page.
Process
This assignment had an assigned theme of "winter pattern."
To begin this assignment we were told as a class to go outside to take pictures of winter patterns we saw. We then needed to combined type and text to develop the pattern. This exercise introduced us our project: finding five wither patterns and developing a photographic sketch and a typographic sketch. Below are some early designs for this project.
Reflection
I really enjoyed this project. This project was the fist time we were really allowed to work with color typography, so it was a bit challenging, yet exciting. I changed my sketched a lot before I steeled on the final five I was going to use. Although this did take time away from developing my final sketches, it did give me more options to work with, which I enjoyed.
